From afar, this looks like nothing more than part 2 of the Leveson nonsense, revenge of the scorned Labour party, anti-Murdoch witch hunt, and general chicanery at the top of the CPS, who by the way, should be asked to clarify their position on the Operation Motorman case. Hell, it seems, hath no fury like a bunch of scorned left wing politicians.
If the general thrust is hacking phones or invasion of privacy or whatever, and all the main papers were up to their ears in it, especially during the Blair/Brown years, why are not representatives from the other papers also on the stand to explain their papers' policies and practices on the subject? I suspect we all already know the answer to that.
Perhaps these two should do a Piers Morgan (of dodgy British squaddy pics fame and I think the Mccartney/Mills business)and attend the court by video conferencing from the Cayman Islands or somewhere equally pleasant and with whom the UK has no extradition treaty.
