You've reproduced the first 'iconic thought' I had when I heard he'd died.
Mackintosh was a big name as we grew into understanding computers, and I don't care about the squeals of the idealogists; he did an enormous job in getting his products into a disgraceful marketplace.
Somehow, he shrugged, and said that we'd like what he did.
And I've only used a Mac for about half an hour too.

What a revelation! No way will I ever go back to a Windows computer (though I do have a partition on the MacBook for a few old Windows programs I still use.
Much as I love the MacBook, I'm not a complete Apple "Fan Boy." The iPhone 4 is one of the worst phones I've ever owned, but wife and mother's iPads are amazing.
Hopefully there are enough people in Apple who can carry Steve's baton forwards.

Few mention that "Saint" Steve wasn't as saintly as many of his followers believe.
Got his 1st girlfriend pregnant; denied it was his; lied that he was sterile.
Ended up he WAS the father & had to pay maintenance.
He also screwed Woz by promising to split a a commission 50/50 for writing some software for Atari.
When paid for that work, he gave Woz $300.
"Saint" Steve was actually paid $5,000 by Atari.
