Elliot Morley, the MP for Scunthorpe has announced that he is to stand down at the next General Election. How many readers of this blog have ever been to Scunthorpe?
Hopefully not many.
Gentle readers, on your behalf, I have been there and it was closed.
I have been in some pretty dismal places in my time, but Scunthorpe is everything you imagine it will be. For the past 22 years it has deserved having a bent git like Elliot Morley as its MP.
In the words of the NuLabour anthem - "things can only get better."
Well, for constituencies who are prepared to chuck out crooks like Elliot Morley, this is probably true.

He will not be missed.

Y'know. I wouldn't give a shit about Parliamentary fiddles if the quality of life in the UK hadn't deteriorated so markedly during their watch.
I'd bet most people would agree.
When Google Streets first started, they covered all the major cities - and Scunthorpe!
Clearly they had a tip-off...
Nope, not been there, but back in the good old dark ages, did not a young batter and bowler called Botham tread the hallowed turf of the local footie club?
Also, why, since we have a plural in Cleethorpes, do we not have likewise in S****horpe(s)? Maybe one is sufficient unto the day? What is a "thorpe" anyway?
A thorpe is a homestead, rvi, or a small farm or cottage.
The constituency in question is therefore a collection of cottaging cunts.
Glad to be of help.
E-K: in a nutshell, the whole of Britain is fast becoming like Scunthorpe.
Scrobs: I believe the wheels were nicked off the car that had the camera gear on it as soon as they got to Scunthorpe.
rvi & Idle: That is one meaning for a "Thorpe."
The other meaning still involves cottaging. It is the description given for a Member of Parliament who swings both ways and arranges for his ex-lover to be shot by an incompetent hitman.
Idle: Thanks. You learn something new every day. Isn't ejacashun a wonderful thing....?
MP's expenses is mere distraction. When compared to the amount of tax payers' money spent on wars and propping up banks, it's a piddlin' amount.
